From 'Change Ringing', p81 "Call bob three times with any unaffected bell in the same position. These touches can be extended almost ad lib. The third bob brings up the plain course and three more bobs, one in each course, can be call in a subsequent position, adding two courses. Touches extended like this may not be true, but they are useful when ringing to a specific timetable." Actually, the longest true example is 588, e.g. 3 bobs at 3,7,12. This touch is an extended example of that, with an extra 3 bobs at 7.
