Published in Bell News 15th March 1890, page 595. This peal is on the 3-lead course plan, with the 5th being the observation bell. There are many 3-lead course peals of Grandsire Triples, which are all also 120-parts. However, Carter's genius didn't miss the fact that in Union Triples the 3-lead course plan requires only one call in each course, not two as in Grandsire, as a bob only affects three bells and the path of the observation bell is not disrupted by the extra plain lead. It is incredible that a peal which is half in-course and half out-of-course can have as few as 120 calls - particularly as 180 appears to be the limit in Grandsire Triples.
